Roundtable: Women in Municipal Councils in Support of Local Development

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World, in collaboration with the National Commission for Lebanese Women, is hosting a roundtable discussion titled “Women in Municipal Councils in Support of Local Development”.
Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nouhad Al Mashnouk and the Director of the Office of the United Nations Development Program in Beirut Loca Randa will participate in the event. Journalist Claude Abou Nader Hindi will be the moderator of the roundtable.
MP Ghassan Moukheiber, Former Minister Wafa Dika Hamzeh, member of the executive office of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, Boushra Itani, member of the Beirut municipality council and Nada Anid, founding member of ‘Women in Front’ will also take part in the event.
The discussion will shed light on ways to overcome the legislative and social obstacles that have hindered women from their participation in municipal councils and local development.
