Food 4 Thought Speaking Series: “Women in Leadership… A New Tomorrow”

Irwin B Conference Room, Beirut campus

As part of its Food for Thought monthly series, the Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World is hosting a lecture titled “A New Tomorrow: Women in Leadership—International Commonality of Opportunities and Obstacles”, presented by Board of Trustee Member and Founder, President, and CEO of Murer Consultants, Inc., Cherilyn Murer.

Although leadership has long been a central focus among the business and academic worlds, efforts to support and develop women’s roles have grown more slowly. With her extensive experience as an entrepreneur and leader in healthcare, Cherilyn G. Murer will offer her perspective on fostering women’s leadership on an international level, recognizing the global commonality of both obstacles and opportunities for women.

Murer is the founder, president, and CEO of Murer Consultants, Inc., a national legal-based health care management consulting firm just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Murer earned her Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from Northern Illinois University and subsequently served as Director of Rehabilitation Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Today, Murer leads clients across the United States through the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, advising them on complex regulatory, strategic, and financial issues. With a national client base, Murer Consultants represents large multi-hospital health care systems, academic medical centers, and large physician group practices focusing on strategic positioning, consolidation and acquisition, regulatory compliance, and financial management.

Murer regularly lectures on leadership, focusing on women’s roles as entrepreneurs and leaders, as well as ethics in leadership. Murer also serves on numerous boards, including: Lebanese American University Board of Trustees; Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees; and Chairman of the Buck Advisory Council and member of the Board of Trustees at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Murer is a published author of seven books focusing on key issues in healthcare, regulatory compliance, and finance.

The lecture will be followed by a reception on the CA floor. Those interested are kindly requested to RSVP to Joelle Abi Aad at ext. 1310 or via e-mail to jabiaad@lau.edu.lb.
