The Arabic Language in Crisis

The Department of Education at the Lebanese American University invites you to attend a panel discussion on “The Arabic Language in Crisis”.

The panelists are:

  • Doha Al Assad, award winning author of أصحابنا, a platform to teach Arabic language, will address the nature of challenges of teaching Arabic, her personal experience with developing a technological tool to teach Arabic and some strategies for the future.
  • Katia Hazoury, special educator, and author of the remedial dyslexia program حروفي الأولى will shed light on the reading and writing challenges of Arabic, and some remedial strategies to address them.
  • Dr. Nada Saab, associate professor Arabic at LAU, will ground the current crisis of Arabic language in the context of globalization, and identify the main socio-cultural factors that compound the problem.

The panel will be in Arabic and will be followed by a Q & A session.
