About the Speaker:
Dr. Elias BrassitosAssistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at LAU, holds a PHD in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston - USA.
His PhD thesis was on the development of compact geared robotic joints and actuation mechanisms for aerospace applications, specifically for planetary rovers and space manipulators. 
He is a NASA fellow and has been a visiting technologist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 2013 to 2016 where he worked on the development of actuation hardware for extreme space robotics. 
He is also the recipient of the 2016 James W. Healy Fellowship Award for Excellence in Research and Innovation from the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at Northeastern University. He has several patent applications and technical papers in the areas of design, optimization and dynamic model development of advanced actuators and transmission mechanisms.
