In this lecture, Dr. von Schreeb will talk about his work in disasters worldwide and his research. He will present the scope and principles of disaster medicine and the advantages of applying a triage based strategy to direct the work in pre hospital and hospital settings. 

Biography:
Johan von Schreeb is a general surgeon and Professor of Global Disaster Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden where he leads the centre for research on health care in disasters. He has for the last 30 years worked in disasters worldwide including earthquakes, armed conflict, typhoons and outbreaks. He is the founder of Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) in Sweden and has worked for both MSF and WHO. His research areas include trauma care with limited resources, health system resilience to disasters, quality assurance of international field hospitals. Dr. von Schreeb is deployed to Lebanon since August 7 to coordinate the international health relief and now supports strengthening of Covid-19 care at public hospitals in Lebanon. To learn more about his work please see https://ki.se/node/3824
