The
School of Business at the Lebanese American University is organizing
an international conference on Banking, Financial Markets and the
Economies of the Middle East and North Africa scheduled for May
25 to 27, 2000, in Byblos, Lebanon. Papers in the following areas
are solicited:
Role of Banks, Financial Institutions and Central Banks in Economic
Activity
Structure and Development of Financial Markets
Banking Structure Performance
Asset-Liability Risk Management
Financial Instability and the Macroeconomy
Financial Factors and Business Cycles
Restructuring Financial Systems
Redesigning and Reforming Regulatory Policies
Monetary Policy
Banking Crisis
Currency Crisis
Instruments of Monetary Management
International Transmission of Financial Market Volatility
Globalization of Financial Markets
Regional Economic and Monetary Unions
Debt, Financial Stability and Public Policy
The
conference will also be the site for the launching of a new international
refereed journal, Review of Middle-East Economics and Finance.
Selected papers will be considered for publication in the inaugural
issue of the Review. Partial funding for travel and accommodation
for the duration of the conference is available.
