Design Exchange ’09 Conference

Byblos campus and Old Byblos City

Design Exchange ‘09 is the first design conference hosted by LAU’s Graphic Design Department, Byblos campus. This weeklong event will welcome three world-renowned graphic designers and design educators: Richard Doubleday (USA), Hiroki Yamamoto (Japan), and Bob van Dijk (Netherlands). Each of these guests will give an intensive workshop, exhibition of their work as well as a public lecture. Read more about the speakers.

The conference is open to students, educators, designers and anyone interested in sharing the uniqueness of Far Eastern, Middle Eastern and Western cultures within contemporary graphic design practice.

All workshops are open only to graphic design students from LAU and the Scientific College of Design in Oman.

A lecture series will also be held on November 25 at LAU Byblos from 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. All lectures are open to the public.

On the eve of the lecture series, an exhibition opening will be held in the Old City of Byblos in coordination with Eddé Yard. Visitors will enjoy the evening by walking through the Souk of Byblos where the exhibiting designers will be present to speak about their work. The exhibition opens on November 25, from 6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m. and will remain open daily until November 28. On the opening night, Richard Doubleday will also be signing and selling his book: “Jan Tschichold – Master Typographer: His Life, Work, and Legacy” at the Gibran Khalil Gibran Library in the Byblos Souk.
