“Germany 2014 – 24 years After Reunification”

Beirut campus, Byblos campus

The Department of Social Sciences and the Department of Humanities in collaboration with The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) cordially invite you to a lecture entitled “Germany 2014 – 24 years After Reunification” by Visiting Professor Dr. Thomas Krumm and Ms. Ina Hoppe, representatives of the DAAD.

They will be discussing, via videoconference, the collapse of the communist systems in Eastern Europe in 1989 has been a landmark that revised the political landscape not only across Europe.

The fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 led over to the (re)unification of the Eastern and Western parts of Germany at October 3, 1990.   However, even 24 years after regaining state unity, the ‘inner unification’ is still an issue in German politics and public. They will explore the past achievements and present challenges in Germany today.

All are welcome to attend.

The event will be taking place in Frem 203/204 on the Byblos campus, and in Nicol 222 on the Beirut campus.
