Ceramics and Narrative - Byblos

ARC 104, Byblos Campus

The Department of Art & Design is organizing a lecture and workshop by Stephen Dixon titled: “Ceramics and Narrative”.

The talk will focus on the way that ceramics acts as a vehicle for narrative, communicating across time and across cultures and continents. The workshop will explore hands-on printing methods to apply image-based narratives to ceramic surfaces.

Stephen Dixon is a professor of Contemporary Crafts at Manchester School of Art. His practice engages with the narrative and decorative traditions of figurative ceramics and bring this rich visual vocabulary to bear on contemporary issues and contemporary experience. His work features in numerous public collections, including the Museum of Arts & Design New York, the British Council, the Crafts Council, the V & A, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
