This talk tackles the latest technology trends and innovations in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO) sector. This sector is currently undergoing a revolutionary digital journey, marked by the convergence of Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Metaverse, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the rise of digital platforms. In the talk, the speaker will focus on how these technologies are reshaping the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept design to the creation of an all-encompassing digital twin with regional and global examples.

Salim El Ferkh brings more than 20 years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO) sector. He has been with Autodesk for the last 10 years, where he has been spearheading and leading a team that drives digital transformation for major AECO organizations in the Middle East.

Over the past two decades of accelerated regional construction, Salim has had the privilege of contracting in most of the region’s iconic Government, Education, Real Estate, Oil and Gas and Hospitality construction projects across the Middle East and North Africa.

Currently Salim and his team are helping 250 major customers achieve feats and awards using Autodesk’s connected BIM authoring and collaboration platforms. The team’s most recent achievements include supporting, with expertise and technology, the design and construction of some of the world’s largest infrastructure projects. Among them are Grand Egyptian Museum, Istanbul Grand Airport, all the Qatar FIFA stadiums, Expo 2020 and more recently several of the Saudi Giga projects.  

Salim embarked on his professional journey as a project control engineer with a renowned construction company in the Middle East. Subsequently, he transitioned to the sales and customer success teams of industry-leading software vendors, where he championed innovative solutions tailored to the AECO sector. 

Salim hold a Bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
