Sci 607, Byblos campus

The Department of Civil Engineering invites you to attend this seminar, which will highlight the carbon trading industry and its global and national benefits.

Abstract:
The climate is changing! Human activity is a main responsible for the increase of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which are affecting our climate today. Several mitigation measures are being adopted worldwide to lower GHG emissions, and combat climate change. The aim of the seminar is to introduce the concept of carbon markets, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol, and low carbon measures that can be implemented under CDM to the university students and staff. The presentation will discuss how carbon trading works, and how it is being used to control and reduce global GHG emissions.
