Lecture on political and social transformation in Central and Eastern Europe

The lecture is titled “Discourse and Transition Case of Political and Social Transformation in Central and Eastern Europe with Specific Focus on Poland.” It will explore processes of political and social transformation in Central and Eastern Europe with a specific focus on Poland, from the point of view of unique dynamics of cross-cutting sections like politics, media, religion and civil society.
It will be given by H.E. Dr. Krzysztof Śliwiński.
Dr. Krzysztof Śliwiński
- Former Polish Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and Morocco, accredited to Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Swaziland.
- Activist of the democratic opposition, Head of the Foreign Affairs Division in Solidarity (SOLIDARNOSC) Independent Trade Union; Member of the Committee for Social Self-Defence (KSS “KOR”); detained during the martial law period (“State of War” in Poland from December 13, 1981 to July 22, 1983).
- Deputy Chief Editor of Gazeta Wyborcza daily.
- Director of the Department of Promotion and Information, Ministry of Foreigner Affairs in Poland. The special envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to conflicts in Africa. Granted the title of Ambassador ad personam.
- Graduate, University of Warsaw and Academy of Catholic Theology. Doctor of Natural Sciences.
- Associated to the University of Warsaw; Lecturer at the Kisangani University in Zaire.
