“Emotional Intelligence - Part II”

Business Building, Room 904, Beirut campus

Due to the success of the recent lecture titled “Emotional Intelligence in Management” and in response to several requests for a follow-up lecture, the Alumni Relations Office is organizing a second lecture, which will focus on the practical aspects of emotional intelligence, give suggestions on how to improve your Emotional Quotient (EQ), how to raise emotionally intelligent children, and how to use your EQ to improve your performance at work and relationship with your family, friends and colleagues. According to Daniel Goleman who popularized the concept of emotional intelligence in 1995, understanding and controlling your emotions is one of the most important keys to health and success in life and EQ is by far a better predictor of success than IQ (Intellectual Quotient).

The lecture, followed by a Q&A session, will be presented by Dr. Ahmad Oueini, associate professor of education at LAU and chairperson of the Department of Education. Dr. Oueini holds several degrees from Columbia University in New York including an M.A. in higher education (student advisement and orientation), an Ed.M. in psychological counseling, a doctorate in education (concentration counseling), and a post-doctorate M.A. in special education: learning disabilities. He is active in giving lectures and workshops to parents and teachers on issues related to intelligence, homework, study skills and behavioral management. Dr. Oueini is certified by the City of New York as a trilingual educational evaluator.

As places are limited, please confirm your attendance no later than April 21, 2010, by contacting the Alumni Relations Office at: Tel: +961-1-786456, ext. 1136, or email: alumni@lau.edu.lb.
