“Seizure and Behavior Identification in Animals Using Computer Vision”

Block A, Room 820, Byblos campus

Speaker: Rana Farah from the Image and Video Processing Laboratory at the École Polytechnique de Montréal, in Montreal, Canada

Abstract: A significant portion of neuroscience research is based on animal models. Animal models are a powerful tool to study neurophysiological processes, to better understand the development of conditions such as epilepsy, and to develop new drugs and treatments for humans. In Montreal’s Ste-Justine children hospital, a significant portion of neurology research uses rats. The presentation will describe the challenges and a methodology to identify certain rats’ behaviors, including seizure behavior, using computer vision.

Event organizer: LAU’s School of Arts and Sciences – Department of Computer Science and Mathematics (Byblos)
