Summary:
It’s almost Christmas. It’s cold and it’s dark.
Wahab, 19, receives a phone call that urgently summons him to the hospital. His mother is dying.
On the way, he is assailed by memories and confused feelings, conjured up by the imminent death of his mother who, for him, had lost her familiar face the day he turned 14. However, neither the storm nor the deafening noise of the snow removal machines was sufficient to cover up the rage and the pain of this adolescent.
Between dream and reality, memory and fiction, Wahab speaks alone and out loud. He talks to heal the pains of the civil war and his escape through forced exile, his childhood fears, and the trauma of a bloodstained assault.
Simple everyday words evoke the pain of grief, the awkwardness vis-à-vis oneself, the others and the world.
