LAU’s Department of Architecture and Interior Design invites you to a lecture by Dr. Benedict Anderson, an Australian-born practitioner working in scenography, dance, dramaturgy, architecture and film.

Sponsored by the School of Architecture and Design, the lecture will explore spatial design and visual art within the context of urban design, dance and choreography, architecture and film within the urban built environment. Through project examples the lecture will focus on various modes of operating in an interdisciplinary practice.

About the speaker
Anderson is an associate professor in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building at the University of Technology Sydney. He has designed for ballet, opera and contemporary dance and collaborated on projects with RIPE, Good Work Productions and independent choreographers. Projects and exhibitions include: En Residencia, Laboral Gijon and ARCO 05 Art Fair Madrid Spain, Millennium Centre Cardiff, National Theatre Wales, Fondation Cartier Paris, CDC Toulouse, Es Space Pier Paolo Pasolini Valenciennes and Festival of Arts Amman, Jordan. He co-convened Mobility Visions Symposium for Theater der Welt Halle Germany exploring relational themes in architecture, public space and surveillance and co-convened SEAM2009/2011 Symposiums Sydney; exploring inter-relationships with architecture, film and choreography, site specificity, city as event, pulse and activation. Screening of his documentary and experimental films include: Panorama Film Festival, Athens, Espace Media Centre de Recontre International Monaco, Normandy Contemporary Film Festival, Museum for Contemporary Art Leipzig and the Palast der Republik Berlin.
