“Civil Society Role in Arab Spring”

The International Affairs program is organizing a guest lecture and discussion with activist Ziad Abdel Samad on the”Civil Society’s Role in Arab Spring ”. The guest speaking will be held in Dr. Imad Salamey International Affairs class on Arab Spring.
Biography
Ziad Abdel Samad is the executive director of the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND). Based in Beirut, since 1999 ANND brings together 30 NGOs and 9 national networks from 10 Arab countries, active in the protection of social and economic rights.
He is the regional coordinator of Social Watch, an international network of citizen coalitions that monitors the implementation of the commitments made at the 1995 World Summit on Social Development in Copenhagen.
Abdel Samad is also co-founder of the Euro-Mediterranean NGO platform, member of the advisory board of the Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN) and of the advisory board of the Reality of Aid Network (RoA).
He is member of the advisory council of the International Center for Non-Profit Law (ICNL) and of the UNDP CSO Advisory Committee to the Administrator.
