“Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Cognitive Approach”
Business Building 903, Beirut campus
The Department of Social Sciences is hosting a lecture by Dr. Michel Nawfal M.D. M.A., mental health specialist, and psychology instructor at LAU’s School of Arts and Sciences, entitled “Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Cognitive Approach”.
Dr. Nawfal is a medical doctor and clinical psychologist with an emphasis on cognitive behavior. He will be discussing the widely prevalent obsessive-compulsive disorder, commonly known as OCD. From a cognitive perspective, OCD is conceptualized as a disorder with core beliefs that emit erroneous thoughts which trigger urges, anxiety and superstitions, sometimes reaching delusional grandeur. Cognitive behavioral therapy aims to reduce the anxiety and help the suffering patient break the pattern and ritual in order to regain functionality in their life.
All are welcome to attend.
