Dialogue: “40 Years Since The Civil War: Remembering to Move Forward”
Beirut campus, Byblos campus
LAU’s Institute for Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation (IDCT) in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences and the Students’ International Affairs Club, the Gathering Wahdatouna Khalasouna, the Committee of the Kidnapped and the Missing in Lebanon, Assafir newspaper and Fighters for Peace invite you to a dialogue entitled “40 Years Since the Civil War: LAU Students in Dialogue with the War Generation”
April 13, 1975 marked the beginning of the Lebanese 1975-1990 war. For many this conflict was the result of the regional Arab-Israeli conflict, yet for others it was the product of years of accumulated Lebanese internal political divisions. Has the war ended? Are its causes still with us? How do we learn from the past? And how do we chart the way forward? This dialogue brings face to face the generation that lived through and fought the war with the university students who represent the future of Lebanon and the leaders of tomorrow to attempt to answer these questions.
This event will be held in the Frem Center Room 203-204, and will be made available on the Beirut campus in Nicol Hall, Room 222. For more information on the event and dialogue members, click here.
All are welcome to attend.
