Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2016

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in collaboration with the LAU Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW), is pleased to invite you to the “Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2016”.
Worldwide, women continue to contribute to social, economic, cultural and political achievements. In the Arab world, we have much to celebrate for this year’s International Women’s Day under the global theme of “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. In support of this theme, Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Environment Programme in the Arab Region, Ragheb Alama and Lebanese Actress Nadine El Rassi will be guest speakers at this event to salute the success of Arab women. This commemoration will also be held in the presence of social, academic, and representatives from the diplomatic corps, international organizations and civil society.
