Illustration Talk and Workshop: Mohamed Danawi

The Department of Design is hosting a talk titled “The Power of Illustration” and a workshop titled “From Concept to Finish”, both presented by Mohamed Danawi for two days and in both campuses.

An award-winning illustrator, Danawi is the founder and creative director of Illozoo | the visual communication agency representing 130 illustrators. He is also a professor of illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He has chaired the Illustration Department from 1997 till 2002. Danawi was selected to be inlcluded in Archive’s 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide.

The workshop will show the various stages of producing an illustration for an article or creating a poster, from brainstorming, researching, creating thumbnail ideas, simplifying, drawing, coloring, and final presentation. The workshop will be conducted in computer labs with Cintiqs or digital tablets and digital pens + Photoshop. Students will also need sketching materials. 

The talk will start at 9:00 a.m. in Architecture Hall 502 followed by the workshop at 10:00 a.m. in Architecture Hall 502/501C.
