Book Awards: “Honoring Writing from Little Syria to Today”

LAU NY Academic Center is organizing a literary evening co-sponsored with the Arab American National Museum. The evening will begin with a presentation on New York’s Little Syria neighborhood, which was was famously home to a vibrant community of writers, from poets to journalists, including Khalil Gibran, Ameen Rihani, and Afifa Karam. More than 100 years later, the area remains an inspiration and touchpoint. The presentation will be followed by readings from modern day writers, including Nathalie Handal, Susan Muaddi Darraj, and Moustafa Bayoumi. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the 10th Annual Arab American Book Awards winners.
