UNHCR Representative, Mireille Girard, Discusses the Impact of Refugees on a Country

The Institute for Social Justice and Conflict Resolution and the Department of Social Sciences are hosting a discussion with UNHCR representative, Mireille Girard, to address ” The Impact of Refugees on a Country”.

Mireille Girard has been a UNHCR representative for Lebanon since 2015. Prior to that, she was a representative for UNHCR in Thailand and South Sudan. Girard specializes in international protection and emergency humanitarian responses. She has performed a number of functions for UNHCR in the Headquarters in Geneva and in country operations around the world. Moreover, she has over 22 years of experience in the field and has worked in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. She graduated in Public International Law, Political Sciences, and Asian Studies. She speaks English, French, Spanish and Chinese.

This event is part of Mr. Philippe Lazzarini’s graduate course ‘The United Nations: the Humanitarian, Development and Peace and Security Nexus’.
