Encounters Through Infrastructure, Making of Space and Place in Western Anatolia
Science Building 607-608, Byblos campus
The Department of Architecture & Interior Design is organizing a lecture titled: “Encounters Through Infrastructure: Making of Space and Place in Western Anatolia” by Elvan Cobb.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, modernization policies of both the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Republic altered how space was produced, transformed, and practiced along the river valleys of western Anatolia with projects such as railroads, highways, and dams. Through an investigation of performative practices, this presentation will explore the making of place in western Anatolia vis-à-vis the major infrastructural projects of the modern era.
