The School of Engineering is organizing its annual LAU Engineering Week (LEW), a full week of activities destined only for the SOE students, faculty and clubs. 

Schedule:

Thursday Feb. 7 – LEW Opening Day

Location: CHSC Auditorium

15:00 – 15:10    Opening Remarks by SOE Dean and Abdel Munim Alameddine, former president of the Order of Engineers, Tripoli, board member of the Federation of Arab Engineers, and Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Balamand.

15:10 – 16:00    Engineering Success Story: Open discussion with Mr. Alameddine

16:00 – 17:30    LAU@BMW Group Workshop: Presentations and demos of SOE interns’ projects at BMW Group

Monday Feb. 11 – SOE Pioneers’ Day

Location: CHSC Auditorium

15:00 – 16:30    LAU Distinguished Students Session: Distinguished SOE students covering the range of SOE majors present their Ph.D., master’s, capstone, or distinguished course related projects

16:45 – 18:00    LAU Distinguished Alumni Session: Distinguished SOE Alumni covering the range of SOE majors interact with our students in a panel discussion highlighting their experience and sharing their recommendations toward successful carriers

Tuesday Feb. 12 – SOE Recreational Day

15:00 – 17:00    Competition Game (e.g., Jeopardy, or “Question pour un Champion”) by the SOE clubs

 17:00 – 18:00    Basketball Game: Matching SOE students against SOE Faculty

Location: Basketball court

Wednesday Feb. 13 – SOE Data Science Day in collaboration with Beirut AI

Location: Frem Civic Center Auditorium

15:00 – 15:05    Welcome Remarks by SOE and Beirut AI

15:05 – 16:15    Introduction to Data Science presentation: What is DS? Where can we use DS? Different tasks in DS such as feature engineering, data modeling, etc…, exploratory data analysis, data visualization

16:15 – 16:30    Coffee Break

16:30 – 18:50    Applied DS Session: Build your first predictive model using Google Analytics Customer Revenue Prediction (basic knowledge in programming is required).

18:50 – 19:00    Wrap-up & Concluding Remarks

Friday Feb. 15 – SOE Medical Informatics Day

Location: Medical Auditorium

15:00 – 15:05    Welcome Remarks

15:05 – 16:00    Computation and Artificial Intelligence for CardioDiagnostics presentation by LAU distinguished alumni Ziad Sankari (tentative)

16:00 – 18:00    LAU Medical Students ICHI Project Proposals Presentation (as part of a new collaboration initiative between the LAU Schools of Medicine and Engineering)

Friday Feb. 15 – SOE Clubs Annual Gala Dinner

Location: Ocean Blue Resort, Byblos
