Synopsis:
Movement research, exploration, and experimentation is at the heart of movement creation. This workshop offers the choreographic and creative tools for dance-making to experience many options of choreographic processes. From Inspiration, improvisation, to theme creation, and experimentation, you will benefit from creative tasks that will facilitate the organization of your movement explorations and movement generations. This workshop will also tackle the issues of artistic blockage, body limitations, memory, and what is “something to keep, something to develop, and something to let go of.”

Sarah Fadel is a part-time lecturer of dance at the Lebanese American University. She received her MFA in Choreography (with Merit) from the University of Roehampton, London, UK (2017). During her studies she choreographed and collaborated with other artists on many pieces including “…Not Really.” (In a collaboration with the writer Lloyd Slinger), and “THAWRATH” in collaboration with Sophya Polevaya (Royal Academy of Music composer). Her Thesis performance “Zekra” was based on her practice to incorporate methods of translation in order to generate movement. Her interest in translation, languages, and movement stem from her BA in translation which she received from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (2011). In addition to the two degrees she holds, she took courses at the University of Paris VIII in dance studies. She also has a Dancer Prima Diploma and a Teaching Certificate from Al Sarab Alternative Dance School where she has been teaching modern and hiphop dance since 2007. She has been part of the Al Sarab Dance Company since 2007 and had choreographed and performed in several company productions.
