From Limitation to Opportunity: Rethinking Surgical Training During a Pandemic

Online

This webinar is organized in collaboration with the Lebanese Society for General Surgery (LSGS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO)-Lebanese Chapter. It is also endorsed by the IFSO International for the first time in Lebanon.

During the COVID pandemic, the clinical exposure and competence of our residents was restricted, due to increased surgical risk and the restricted number of elective simple bariatric cases. This altered drastically the clinical competence. The webinar is dedicated to Young IFSO members with active participation of our surgical residents .

The first session will host 2 International speakers and 2 Lebanese members practicing abroad, to discuss an interactive complex case of Redo Surgery after a Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication. The second session entitled Resident Session will host 4 Lebanese Chief Residents, to expose important technical steps, tips and tricks of the 4 most commonly performed bariatric surgeries. The final lecture will be presented by one of the pioneers in the field of surgical simulation and laparoscopic training, Dr. Julian Varas from Chile, who will expose a way to enhance surgical training during this lockdown period imposed by the COVID pandemic.
