The Continuing Medical Education Office at the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine invites you to attend the inaugural session of the Medical Humanities Series:

“Blast from the Past and Blast in the Present”: Essays and Insights

The inaugural session of the medical humanities lecture series of the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine will introduce the discipline of Humanities in Medicine, and will spotlight authors who are members of the medical-school community. Among these authors are students and alumni who were winners of the LAU-Hektoen International essay competition, and faculty whose work has recently been published in a special issue of the journal Life Writing. Sleiman El Hajj, Assistant Professor of Creative and Journalistic Writing in the School of Arts and Sciences, will also share his expertise on Illness Writing during the session.  As one component of the newly established “Humanities Thread” in the curriculum of the school of medicine, several installments of the medical humanities lecture series will be presented throughout the year, on topics ranging from the history of medicine to the relationship between medicine and the arts.
