Bridging the Gap Between Research & Clinical Practice

Overview

Breast cancer remains one of the most diagnosed cancers worldwide. The challenges and complexities associated with its diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship require ongoing research, dialogue, and education.This symposium aims at exploring international data available on Breast Cancer with Dr. Maryam Lustberg, Director of the Center for Breast Cancer at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. Then, the latest advances in Breast Cancer research in Lebanon will be reviewed with Dr. Eman Sbaity, Assistant Professor of Surgery at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. The novelties in screening modalities will be introduced by Dr. Tamina Elias Rizk, Chief of the Breast Imaging Section of the Medical Imaging Department at the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital. The novelties in medical treatment will be highlighted by Dr. Hady Ghanem, Head of the Division of Hematology Oncology at the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital.

Joining this talk are Dr. Vanda Abi Raad, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development at the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine and Mr. Nehme Gerges Melhem, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Aid Lebanon Incorporated.

Target audience

This conference is designed for all faculty, students, and staff from LAU and other universities, in particular those from the schools of medicine, pharmacy and nursing, as well as all those working in medical centers. We also welcome the general public and those who are interested to learn more about advances in breast cancer research.

The LAU CME Office will record attendance and grant 2 CME/CPD credits.
