This upcoming session will bring LAU students together with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert to discuss the current situation in Lebanon, its stability and the United Nations’ role in contributing to the country’s future prospects.

Ms. Hennis-Plasschaert will also address the potential for the full implementation of UN resolutions concerning Lebanon and Israel, highlighting their importance in promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.

    United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon

    Jeanine Antoinette Hennis-Plasschaert is a Dutch politician and diplomat who has been serving as United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon since May 2024. She is a member of the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD).

    Imad Salamey
    Chairperson of the Department of Political and International Studies

    Dr. Imad Salamey is a senior Middle East policy advisor and associate professor of political science and international affairs at LAU. He serves as a monitoring and evaluation consultant for various international and regional organizations on issues related to development, humanitarian and political assistance.
