A Vocation for Poetry

Online via Webex

The Department of English and Creative Arts at the School of Arts and Sciences cordially invites you to attend the following presentation as part of its Departmental Brown Bag Lecture Series.

About the event
——————————————

In this presentation, Dr. Sabbagh will talk about and read from his upcoming book, A Theory of Guilt: New and Selected Poems, 2006-2025, to be published by Winter 2025 with Elyssar Press. This book culls only the best, most lasting work from nearly 20 years of published poetry and seven and a half fully published poetry collections (between 2010 and 2024), with a significant ‘New and Uncollected’ section at its end.

Dr. Sabbagh will also discuss his beginnings as a poet, how poetry fits and figures within his other intellectual roles (fiction writer, critic, academic and university instructor, among others), and a little of the progressing biographical history behind this volume. He will also read samples from the book’s manuscript, leaving plenty of time for Q/A and discussion.
