13th Annual Creative Writing Competition

Lebanese American University

Call for Submissions

The Department of English and Creative Arts at the School of Arts and Sciences is delighted to announce the return of the LAU Creative Writing Competition (CWC) for its 13th run in 2025, inviting students and alumni to share their personal narratives on this year’s theme: Boundaries.

Whether physical, emotional, cultural or professional, boundaries shape our lives in a multitude of ways. This year’s competition challenges participants to explore these experiences through a 1,000-word first-person narrative that offers genuine, structured and insightful storytelling.

Open to LAU undergraduate and graduate students from all schools as well as alumni, this competition is an opportunity to engage with storytelling and self-expression. Participants will have the chance to win monetary prizes for their top entries and may also have the opportunity to revise and publish their work in the peer-reviewed journal of the Arab Institute for Women (AiW) Al-Raida.

Beyond the competition, this is also an invitation to join LAU’s creative writing community in sharing personal stories and contributing to a meaningful literary discourse.

Submissions are open until Saturday, April 5, 2025.
