On the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War, writer and historian Fawwaz Traboulsi, also a former professor of history at LAU, will explore the politics of memory, archival silences and regional and international power dynamics that continue to shape Lebanon’s understanding of its past and present.

Dr. Jeffrey G. Karam is an assistant professor of political science at the Lebanese American University. He is also an associate at the Middle East Initiative at Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and a visiting assistant professor of international relations and Middle East politics at Harvard University’s Summer School and Division of Continuing Education..

Fawwaz Traboulsi
Writer and Historian
Fawwaz Traboulsi is a Lebanese historian and writer who holds degrees from the American University of Beirut and the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. He is a leading intellectual in Lebanon and a prominent figure on the Lebanese left. Founder of Bidayat, an intellectual review, he has also authored a number of books.
