The Department of English and Creative Arts cordially invites you to a lecture by Georges Haddad.

This lecture will highlight the important Lenten composition by Johann Sebastian Bach.

About the lecturer

Dr. Georges Haddad is a neurosurgeon who specializes in skull base surgery. He earned his BS in Physics with distinction and later an MD with distinction from AUB in 1985. Dr. Haddad’s commitment extends beyond medicine to include teaching and community service. He is passionate about music and regularly delivers talks on the subject in Lebanon, and has played an active role on the boards of several music festivals, such as Al Bustan. This marks his second appearance at LAU, having previously delivered a talk in October 2022 titled “Back to Bach.”

 

About the musician

Dr. Reem Deeb specializes in voice performance, history and literature. She has also minored in music education and choral conducting at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, USA. Her repertoire includes several recitals, oratorio, opera and musical theater roles and productions. Additionally, Dr. Deeb is an active member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is an associate organist and soprano soloist at the National Evangelical Church of Beirut. She enjoys collaborating on and presenting events with international communities and diplomats to spread cultural awareness, peace, and joy through music.
