Engaging Adolescents in Therapy

The Department of Psychology and Education at the School of Arts and Sciences invites you to join a one-day training course titled Engaging Adolescents in Therapy led by Dr. Pia Tohme, associate professor of clinical psychology and the department’s chairperson. 

This training offers an overview of the main challenges when dealing with adolescents in therapy. Participants will explore effective strategies for building rapport with both adolescents and their parents, and engage in case-based discussions highlighting approaches drawn from motivational interviewing, interpersonal therapy, and mentalization-based therapy.

The course is designed to promote best practices and high standards of care when supporting this particularly sensitive population.
