The Institute for Banking and Finance at the Adnan Kassar School of Business, in collaboration with the Lebanese Institute for Market Studies (LIMS), is organizing Cryptocurrency Trading: Risks and Challenges, a 75-minute virtual workshop for finance and business students.Designed as an introduction to cryptocurrency trading, the session will give students practical insight into how crypto markets operate while examining the risks and challenges associated with trading digital assets. Participants will better understand the dynamics of cryptocurrency trading and key considerations for navigating this rapidly evolving financial landscape.
The seminar helps students connect their academic knowledge of finance and markets with an emerging area of financial practice.

Workshop Description
Younger generations are showing growing interest in Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and digital assets, often without a clear understanding of the risks involved. Many digital assets lack established value, while some wallets and platforms do not meet adequate security standards. Limited financial literacy can further expose young users to scams, fraudulent projects and misinformation circulating online and on social media.
This workshop introduces participants to Bitcoin and its potential applications in contexts where access to financial systems is restricted. It will examine how Bitcoin can enable individuals to maintain independent control over their assets while exploring its relevance to financial freedom and human rights. Participants will gain practical knowledge of how Bitcoin works, the risks associated with its use and the security practices needed to navigate digital assets responsibly.
Speaker’s Biography
Anna Chekhovich is Freedom Tech Education Lead at the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), where she develops and leads educational programs that help activists, journalists, nonprofits and civil society organizations use freedom technologies to address financial censorship, strengthen digital resilience and operate securely under authoritarian regimes.
Before joining HRF, Chekhovich worked with the Anti-Corruption Foundation, where she helped maintain the organization’s operations amid government efforts to restrict its access to the financial system. This experience informs her practical approach to helping activists and civil society organizations strengthen their operational and financial resilience.
At HRF, Chekhovich designs and delivers hands-on training on Bitcoin, artificial intelligence and other open-source freedom technologies for civil society leaders worldwide. She has trained hundreds of nonprofit professionals, journalists and human rights defenders, equipping them with practical skills to use emerging technologies, access censorship-resistant funding, communicate securely and strengthen their organizations against financial and digital restrictions.
