In line with the School of Pharmacy (SOP) strategic plan 2024-2029, the SOP’s Professional Development Committee invites you to this engaging session, presented by Dr. Georges Abdallah.
George Abdallah, PHARMD, BCCCP, BCCP, FACC
George Abdallah is a clinical pharmacist and medical affairs professional specializing in cardiovascular and critical care medicine. He previously served as a clinical pharmacy specialist in the cardiac and cardiothoracic intensive care units at a major academic medical center in Boston, where he also chaired departmental preceptor development and contributed to residency training and interdisciplinary education.
Dr. Abdallah currently works in medical affairs as a Medical Science Liaison in hematology and critical care, where he engages with clinicians and researchers on evidence-based practice and scientific exchange. He is actively involved in mentoring and training new Medical Science Liaisons, with a focus on scientific communication, field readiness, and professional competency development. He also serves as adjunct faculty, delivering continuing education and preceptor development programming. Dr. Abdallah is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Learning Objectives:
· Describe the evolving role, responsibilities, and non-promotional boundaries of Medical Science Liaisons within modern healthcare systems
· Identify core competencies associated with effective MSL practice, including scientific expertise, critical literature evaluation, communication, stakeholder engagement, insight generation, and professional judgment
· Apply a structured scientific-exchange framework to a case-based clinical or research discussion, adapting the depth and framing of evidence to the stakeholder’s needs
· Develop an actionable plan for building or mentoring MSL readiness by linking clinical, research, teaching, and interprofessional experiences to specific field-medical competencies
This activity has been planned and will be implemented in partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, which designates this activity for 1.0 ACPE contact hour.
