The Tenth Annual Diagnostic Medicine Day
The Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Health Sciences Center
MSA is proudly organizing its 10th LAU MSA DIAGNOSTIC MEDICINE DAY (DMD). It has now become a tradition for LAU MSA to hold each year a (DMD) which is a national competition which joins MED I (4th year) and MED II (5th year) medical students from all Lebanese medical schools challenging them to solve a complicated medical case. Teams are divided into separate rooms on the LAU Byblos campus at the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Health Sciences Center, and are given a challenging case prepared by our very own LAU Medical Center physicians. Through taking extensive histories, physical exams results, ordering lab tests and interpreting their results, students will need to come up with a diagnosis and defend it in front of a jury of physicians, who will then announce the winning team. The purpose of the event is to allow the medical students to place themselves in the shoes of a physician, and see the whole diagnostic process to completion without outside interference from more experienced physicians. Besides the academic and analytic advantages offered by it, the Diagnostic Medicine Day has proven over the years to be an incredible opportunity for medical students to grow more confident in their own knowledge and clinical skills, thus effectively preparing them to join the hospital team.
