Bridging the Gap Between Research & Clinical Practice

Overview

Apart from skin cancers, breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among American women, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and therefore breast cancer awareness is of crucial importance. This symposium aims at exploring international data available on Breast Cancer with Dr. Anees Chagpar, Professor of Surgery Breast Oncology specialist at Yale School of Medicine. Then, the latest advances in Breast Cancer research in Lebanon will be reviewed with Dr. Eman Sbaity, Assistant Professor of Surgery at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. The novelties in screening modalities will be introduced by Dr. Tamina Elias Rizk, Clinical Assistant Professor and Chief of the Breast Imaging Section of the Medical Imaging Department at the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital.

Joining this talk are Dr. Sola Aoun Bahous, Dean of the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine & Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine/ Division of Nephrology and Mr. Nehme Gerges Melhem, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Aid Lebanon Incorporated.

This conference is designed for all faculty, students, and staff from LAU and other universities, in particular those from the schools of medicine, pharmacy and nursing, as well as all those working in medical centers. We also welcome the general public and those who are interested to learn more about advances in breast cancer research.
